Men's Basketball Falls to Babson

WORCESTER, Mass.  – The Clark University men's basketball team (12-8, 7-4 NEWMAC) hosted Babson (13-6, 7-3 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon and were bested 73-62 by the Beavers from the Kneller Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars trailed 9-4 early despite points from both first-year Aliaun Iscandari and sophomore Kyle Squires before Iscandari cut the deficit to three with a made layup off a steal.
  • Babson then rattled off the next six points before an Iscandari jumper ended the run and a senior Reid Neumann triple made it an 18-11 contest in favor of the Beavers with 12:31 to go in the first half.
  • Sophomore Boluwasefe John and Iscandari combined for Clark's next four points before another three-pointer from Neumann cut the deficit to six and a layup from first-year Elijah Small brought Clark back within five at 27-22.
  • Junior Quentin Pridgen and Neumann netted the Cougars' next five points before both John and Squires combined for five points to get back within four, but a Timmy Mulvey triple before the end of half as Clark trailed 39-32.
  • The Beavers scored the first four points of the second half before Iscandari netted three points and five points from Squires made it a 47-40 game in favor of Babson.
  • After trailing by 10, Clark cut the deficit to six with 12:25 to go as John and Small each made layups, but Mulvey connected on another triple to extend the lead back to nine.
  • Neumann scored the scarlet and white's next three points before Iscandari added four more as the teams traded baskets to make it a 64-54 game with 3:43 remaining.
  • John helped pull Clark back within single-digits with a made layup and dunk, but Babson made five free throws down the stretch and Iscandari scored the Cougars final points of the afternoon as they fell 73-62.

  • Clark made 24 shots, grabbed 35 rebounds, and dished out 13 assists.
  • John registered a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, which was his fourth of the season.
  • Iscandari led the team with 17 points and made six shots.
  • Neumann also reached double-figures with 14 points and connected on four three-pointers.
  • Pridgen dished out a team-high seven assists and grabbed six rebounds.

Clark will return to the court on Wednesday night when they welcome Salve Regina to the Kneller for a contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
