Women's Soccer Plays to 0-0 Draw Against Babson

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer (5-3-1, 1-2-1 NEWMAC) hosted Babson (4-4-3, 1-0-3 NEWMAC) and battled for 90 minutes with the Beavers, playing to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Both defenses dominated the first 25 minutes of action as neither team got a shot on goal until sophomore Kory Lloyd fired a shot on target that was saved by Callahan Cottone.
  • In the 31st minute, Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin headed a ball off the corner that hit the crossbar and before the end of the half juniors Madeleine Reeves, Georgia Louis, and Solimar Rivera all attempted shots that went wide as the teams entered the break tied 0-0.
  • Junior Selene Hammad and Reeves each created chances over the first six minutes of the second half before Josie Lee fired a shot that hit the crossbar in the 53rd minute.
  • Lee had another header stopped by Huryn five minutes later and off a free kick in the 66th minute, Reeves nearly gave Clark the lead with a shot on target that was again saved.
  • Huryn registered a pair of critical saves in the middle of the second half to keep the Beavers off the board before Louis created Clark's most dangerous chance with a pass over to Rivera that hit the post.
  • Janiya Ocampo and Lillian McAughan fired shots on target that were stopped before Louis created the last chance of the evening that was saved by Cottone in the 87th minute as the Cougars played to a 0-0 draw.

  • The Cougars recorded 17 shots (five on target), drew 14 fouls, and earned three corner kicks.
  • This was Clark's third defensive shutout of the season and second in NEWMAC action.
  • Huryn registered four saves and posted her second shutout of the year.
  • Reeves led the team with two shots on goal.

The Cougars will return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon when they host Smith for their senior day game beginning at 1:00 p.m.
