Women's Lacrosse Closes Out Non-Conference Play With 13-4 Victory Over RIC

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (2-3) closed out non-conference play with a convincing 13-4 victory over RIC (0-4) on Tuesday night from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Graduate student Meghan Fogarty, junior Sarah Forrester, first-year Jasmin Peters, and fellow first-year Amelia Corbin each created chances over the first half of the quarter that were stopped before senior Abigail Gallagher caused a pair of turnovers.
  • Senior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia got the Cougars on the board with a made free position shot and over the remainder of the quarter, sophomore Sydney McMonagle, Peters, and Forrester each had shots saved as the Cougars tool a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.
  • After a free position goal from RIC, Clark rattled off five unanswered goals as sophomore Paige Kemish, Fogarty, McMonagle, and Peters all scored, with McMonagle finding the back of the cage twice as the Cougars led 6-1 with 5:43 to go in the second.
  • First-year Ella Forsman tallied a save after a RIC goal and E. Cacciapaglia netted another goal before the half as Clark took a 7-2 lead into the half.
  • E. Cacciapaglia found the back of the cage again less than 0:20 into the third off a feed from Kemish before Forsman added another save.
  • After a RIC goal, Corbin scored with 0:17 to play in the quarter after her shot hit the post, got it back, and scored as the scarlet and white led 9-3 going into the fourth.
  • Peters scored a man-up goal to open the fourth before McMonagle found the back of the cage off a pass from E. Cacciapaglia to push their advantage to 11-3.
  • The Anchorwomen added another goal before Peters and E. Cacciapaglia scored the final two goals of the contest to help the Cougars earn a 13-4 victory, while senior Victoria Holden and sophomore Grace Steward tallied saves in the fourth.

  • Clark attempted 38 shots, forced 36 turnovers, won 11 draw controls, scooped up 28 ground balls, and converted 19 clears.
  • E. Cacciapaglia led the team with four goals, two assists, seven caused turnovers, five ground balls, and added four draw controls.
  • Peters and McMonagle each added hat tricks, while Peters led the squad with six draw controls.
  • Kemish, Corbin, and Fogarty also netted goals, while Forrester registered an assist.
  • Forsman (3), Steward (2), and Holden all registered saves.

Clark will begin NEWMAC play on Saturday when they welcome Smith to Granger for a contest beginning at 12:00 p.m.
