NORTON, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (2-6, 0-3 NEWMAC) traveled to Wheaton (7-3, 2-2 NEWMAC) and dropped the contest 17-3 to the Lyons on Saturday afternoon from Nordin Field.
How it Happened
- After Wheaton's Saige Winslow scored the first goal of the afternoon, senior Alexandra Cacciapaglia won the ensuing draw control before Alexis Antonellis and Georgia Qua rattled off goals to push their advantage to 3-0.
- Senior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia scooped up a ground ball before sophomore Sydney McMonagle got the Cougars on the board with 6:17 to go in the first, with the goal being her 10th of the season.
- Sophomore Paige Kemish scooped up a pair of ground balls and before the end of the quarter, first-year Ella Forsman registered a save as the Lyons led 3-1 heading into the second.
- Forsman tallied two saves in the second and E. Cacciapaglia registered a shot attempt as the Lyons took an 8-1 lead into the break.
- With Clark on the man-down, junior Sarah Forrester netted her fourth goal of the year to bring the Cougars back within six.
- Forsman added four more saves in the third, while Forrester and E. Cacciapaglia each fired shots on goal that were saved as Wheaton led 13-2 entering the fourth.
- E. Cacciapaglia registered a free position goal, which was her 15th of the season and Forsman stopped two more shots as the Lyons prevailed 17-3.
