Women's Lacrosse Drops Final Game of Florida Trip to Grove City

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (0-3) closed out their trip to Florida against Grove City (2-3) and dropped the contest 13-6 on Thursday afternoon from the Countryside Sports Complex.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars jumped out to a 4-0 lead sparked by goals from junior Sarah Forrester, graduate student Meghan Fogarty, first-year Jasmine Peters, and sophomore Sydney McMonagle with Peters picking up an assist on the Forrester goal and first-year Maeve McHugh assisting on Fogarty's goal.
  • First-year Ella Forsman tallied three saves in the first quarter and first-year Kira Rescsanski caused a turnover before the end of the quarter, but the Wolverines scored five unanswered to end the first as they took a 5-4 lead entering the second.
  • Peters scored her second goal of the contest to open the second quarter after seniors Elizabeth Cacciapaglia (caused turnover) and Abigail Gallagher (ground ball) got Clark the ball to tie the game at 5-5 with 13:43 to go.
  • Peters gave the Cougars the lead at 6-5 with her third goal of the game with 9:28 remaining in the second after senior Alexandra Cacciapaglia scooped up a ground ball.
  • Fogarty and sophomore Paige Kemish each created chances that were saved before the half and first-year Carys Mitchell caused a pair of turnovers as Grove City rattled off five straight goals as they took a 10-6 advantage into the half.
  • Forsman saved a pair of shots to open the third and E. Cacciapaglia fired a shot on goal that was saved before the Wolverines found the back of the cage as Reese Hasley to push their edge to 11-6.
  • McHugh and A. Cacciapaglia each caused turnovers and before the end of the third, before Forsman saved five more shots and Kemish had a shot saved.
  • In the fourth, Forsman added three more saves and Peters and Fogarty each had shots stopped as the Wolverines prevailed 13-6.
