WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (3-10, 1-7 NEWMAC) welcomed Coast Guard (11-1, 8-0 NEWMAC) to Granger for a conference contest on Wednesday night and fell 17-1 to the Bears.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Grace Steward registered a save on a free position shot from Isabella Judge before stopping shots from Joely Schaumloffel and Taylor Thorne early in the first quarter.
- First-year Carys Mitchell caused a pair of turnovers before senior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia registered Clark's first shot on goal with 5:36 minutes to go in the first as the Bears led 5-0.
- E. Cacciapaglia got the Cougars on the board with a goal off a feed from sophomore Paige Kemish to cut the deficit to four.
- Steward stopped another shot before the end of the first and E. Cacciapaglia fired a shot that went just wide of the goal as the Bears took a 6-1 advantage into the second quarter.
- Mitchell, junior Sarah Forrester, and first-year Karah Henson each caused a pair of turnovers early in the second before Steward registered another save.
- First-year Jasmine Peters fired a shot on goal and caused a turnover before the half as the Bears took a 10-1 lead into the break.
- Steward opened the third with another save before the Bears rattled off four goals in the quarter, while E. Cacciapaglia scooped a ground ball and Peters won a draw control.
- In the fourth, senior Victoria Holden stopped a pair of shots and Forrester, E. Cacciapaglia, and Peters all created chances on goal that were saved as the Bears registered a 17-1 victory.
