Women's Lacrosse Falls to Salve Regina on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (3-11, 1-8 NEWMAC) hosted Salve Regina (8-7, 4-5 NEWMAC) in their senior day game and were tied after one quarter of play, but the Seahawks pulled away as they registered a 13-6 victory on Saturday night from Granger Field.

Prior to the game, seniors Elizabeth Cacciapaglia, Christina Bui, Abigail Gallagher, Alexandra Cacciapaglia, and senior Victoria Holden were honored for their contributions to the women's lacrosse program.    

How it Happened
  • After a goal from Nora Cooney, Clark answered with two goals as first-year Jasmine Peters and E. Cacciapaglia each scored, with the Cacciapaglia goal off a feed from junior Sarah Forrester as the Cougars led 2-1.
  • The Seahawks tied the game at 2-2 and a save from first-year Ella Forsman, Peters netted her second goal of the game with 7:41 remaining in the first to give Clark a 3-2 edge.
  • First-year Amelia Corbin, Forrester, and E. Cacciapaglia each created chances before the end of the first that were stopped by Mary Flynn Kayajan as the teams entered the second tied at 3-3.
  • E. Cacciapaglia opened the second quarter with her second goal of the evening as Clark regained the lead at 4-3 before Forsman stopped a shot from Madison Maire.
  • The Seahawks rattled off four unanswered goals in the second before first-year Maeve McHugh scored off a feed from E. Cacciapaglia as the Cougars trailed 7-5.
  • Forrester fired a pair of shots on goal that were stopped and Forsman registered three saves as the scarlet and white were behind 9-5 heading into the break.
  • Sophomore Paige Kemish and A. Cacciapaglia each caused turnovers and Forsman registered a save before the Seahawks scored to push their lead to five.
  • E. Cacciapaglia and Peters created shot attempts on target, Kemish caused a pair of turnovers, and Forsman recorded another save as the Seahawks took a 10-5 edge into the fourth.
  • In the fourth, Holden stopped three shots and Peters netted her hat trick as the scarlet and white were bested 13-6 by the Seahawks.

  • Clark attempted 24 shots, forced 17 turnovers, won 10 draw controls, scooped up 14 ground balls, and converted 15 clears.
  • Peters led the team with a hat trick and now has 26 goals on the season, won a team-high six draw controls and caused a pair of turnovers.
  • E. Cacciapaglia tallied two goals and an assist, bringing her totals to 23 and 5, while adding two draw controls.
  • McHugh and Forrester each registered points, while Kemish caused a team-leading three turnovers.
  • Forsman (9) and Holden (3) led the squad in saves.
What's Next
The scarlet and white will close out their regular season on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Springfield for a contest beginning at 3:00 p.m.
