WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (1-1-2) hosted Gordon (2-1-1) on Wednesday night and played the Fighting Scots to a 2-2 draw as sophomore
Shahmeer Waseem netted the equalizer in the 80th minute from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Waseem created the first two chances of the match with the second shot getting stopped by Riley Calemmo in the 11th minute,
- Senior Daniel Kellogg registered his first save of the contest off a shot from Santiago Hernandez before Cortez Cardone scored off a feed from Jake Scruton to give Gordon a 1-0 advantage in the 18th minute.
- Waseem nearly tied the match two minutes later with a right-footed shot that hit the right post, but rolled away.
- In the 26th minute, first-year Bodhi Bhaskar got Clark on the board with a ball crossed towards goal that went into the back of the net off a pass from junior Jordan Adeyemi to tie the contest at 1-1.
- The Cougars held Gordon without a shot on goal for the remainder of the half as the teams entered the locker room tied.
- Cardone scored his second goal of the evening off a shot from the left side of the box in the 51st minute off a feed from Will Goodling to give Gordon a 2-1 advantage.
- First-year Jake DiOrio, sophomore Jacob Ordonez, and Waseem each created chances over the next five minutes of action, but all were off target.
- In the 80th minute, Clark tied the contest at 2-2 when seniors Carter Benoff and Marc Kim each headed the ball to Waseem, who was able to head the ball over the outstretched arm of Calemmo.
- Waseem created the final chance of the match in the 87th minute that was stopped by Calemmo as the Cougars and Fighting Scots played to a 2-2 draw.
