WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark University field hockey (0-1) hosted Westfield State (1-0) for their season-opener on Tuesday night. The Cougars struck first, but three second half goals for the Owls proved to be the difference in the 4-1 win for Westfield State.

Sophomore Sedona Lee had the first chance of the game, firing a shot on goal five minutes into the game.

The Owls would add two shots of their own in the final five minutes, but both went wide as the first quarter ended scoreless.

Senior Rachel Reiter would make back-to-back saves in the first ninety seconds of the second.

Clark would open the scoring a minute later as sophomore Katelyn Towne fired a ball into the cage off an assist from sophomore Olivia Bass.

Two minutes later Westfield State would equalize, with Jocelyn Frein scoring off a rebound to tie it 1-1, a score that would hold at the half.

Reiter would make three saves in the first five minutes of the second, but a rebound on the last save found Caroline Andrade waiting for a second Westfield State goal.

Reiter would add three more saves over the final ten minutes, but a late goal by Andrade would make it 3-1 entering the final 15 minutes.
