Field Hockey Cruises to 5-0 Victory Over UMass Dartmouth

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (1-1) registered their first victory of the 2026 season with a convincing 5-0 win over UMass Dartmouth (1-1) on Saturday afternoon from Cressy Field.

Senior Cassidy Cloutier, junior Kelsey Gallaway, sophomores Katelyn Towne and Sedona Lee, and first-year Nina Pierson all scored in the contest.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Olivia Bass created a chance on goal in the fourth minute that was stopped and nearly scored in the fifth minute, but Sophia Bouffard came away with a defensive save.
  • Clark then earned a penalty stroke and Gallaway stepped into the circle and found the back of the cage to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
  • Lee attempted Clark's last shot on target of the quarter that was saved and the Cougar defense held the Corsairs without a shot on goal in the first.
  • Towne added to Clark's lead in the 27th minute as she fired a ball in on goal that was kicked away by Shane Cueman, but Towne followed the play and found the back of the cage to push the advantage to 2-0.
  • Bass, Towne, and Lee all attempted shots on goal before the half and completed another quarter with no shots on goal as they led 2-0 at the break.
  • Cloutier opened the third quarter by dribbling the ball into the right side of the circle and was able to sneak the ball by Cueman to push the advantage to 3-0.
  • Pierson tallied her first career goal midway through the third as she fired a shot across the goal and found the back of the cage to extend their lead to 4-0.
  • Senior Rachel Reiter registered her first save of the afternoon towards the end of the third before Lee was able to get through the Corsair backline and score as the Cougars took a 5-0 advantage into the fourth.
  • Reiter tallied three saves in the fourth and Lee fired another shot on goal as Clark recorded a 5-0 victory.
