WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer (1-0-0) welcomed Brandeis (0-1-0) to Granger for their home opener and exploded for four goals in the second half as the scarlet and white registered a convincing come-from-behind 4-1 victory over the Judges on Tuesday night.
How it Happened
- Junior Georgia Louis registered Clark's first shot attempt of the year in the fourth minute, which went down as the contest's lone shot on goal over the first 23 minutes of action.
- Louis created her second chance of the game in the 24th minute that was stopped before senior Ava Lepro tallied her first save of the season less than a minute later off a shot attempt from Sadie Williams.
- Brandeis took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute as Ella Kauffman ran down the left side past the Clark backline and found the back of the net.
- Lepro recorded two more saves before the end of the half and junior Solimar Rivera, senior Ainsley Golini, and Louis each had shots off target as the Judges led 1-0.
- Clark tied the game at 1-1 in the 49th minute as sophomore Lillie DeMetrick serviced in a corner that found the head of fellow sophomore Kory Lloyd and Lloyd lifted it over the outstretched Alston.
- The Cougars took a 2-1 advantage in the 51st minute as junior Selene Hammad serviced in a ball that was flicked on by Rivera and found the foot of sophomore Marcela Gonyea, who found the back of the net.
- In the 57th minute, sophomore Calabria Augustino sent a ball into the box that was deflected and found Hammad, who buried the ball into the goal to extend the lead to 3-1.
- Senior Gabrielle Huryn tallied a save just before the Hammad goal and in the 60th minute, Louis created a chance that was stopped.
- Huryn registered a pair of saves between the 74th and 76th minutes before adding two more stops over the final five minutes of action as Clark's defense held the Judges to just one goal.
- With less than a minute to go, Augustino lofted in a shot from the left side of the pitch off a pass from Rivera that found the back of the net as the scarlet and white prevailed 4-1.
