LEWISTON, ME – Clark University men's cross country got their season started with a trip north for the Bates NCAA Regional Preview, competing against 10 other teams in the 4340 meter run. Senior Summit Smoker cracked the top ten, finishing ninth in the field of 148 runners. 

How it Happened 

• Smoker crossed with a time of 13:42.3, averaging a 5:04.9 mile on his way to a team-best finish. 

• Senior Robert Burton was the next across the finish line, finishing with a time of 14.37.0 for a top-50 placement. 

• Sophomore's Benjamin Pennington (14:52.3) & William Stone (14:52.3) ran the race together, finishing with a near-identical final time.

• Sophomore David Seniuk (15:19.8), sophomore Calvin Hillis-Piecyk (15:40.4), first-year Asa Taggert (15:48.5), and sophomore Rodeo Purves-Langer (15:50.0) each finished in the top 100 for the Cougars. 

• Senior Miles Caponi (16:07.3), junior Nathaniel Storck (16:08.1), and first-year Owen Smith (16:09.8) finished in sequence. 

• Sophomore Samuel Wong (17:58.7) & first-year Elian Elguera-Thomases (18:14.3) finished off the opening day of competition for Clark. 

What's Next

The Scarlet and White hit the road again next Saturday, this time traveling south for the University of Hartford Invitational, beginning at 10:30 AM.
