Springfield, Mass. - The steady improvement of
the Clark men's and women's cross country programs continued on
Saturday with a pair of top five finishes at the Western New
England College Invitational.
Paced by a pair of top ten individual performances, the men's
squad finished fifth. On the women's side, the Cougars were led by
a pair of top 15 finishes to collect a fourth place team
finish.
Freshman Zoe Greenberg (Arlington, Mass.)
continued her standout initial campaign with a tenth place finish
with a time of 21:00.1 over the 5k course. She was followed by
junior Heather Goodale (Middletown, Conn.) in the
13th spot at 21:05.1. Freshman Erika Roth (Saco,
Maine) was Clark's third runner to cross the line, turning in a
time of 21:45.0.
The men, meanwhile, had graduate student Caleb
Evanter (Marblehead, Mass.) and sophomore Joe
Kennelly (New Windsor, Conn.) finish right behind one
another in ninth and tenth place respectively. Evanter finished the
8k course in 28:10.0 and Kennelly was six seconds behind him at
28:16.0.
Junior Martin
Leggett (Easton, Pa.) was the third Clark runner to
complete the course, recording a 27th place finish with a time of
29:53.1.
Both Cougar squads return to action on Saturday, October 31 at the
NEWMAC Championships, hosted by Wellesley College.
