Worcester, Mass. – For the first time
since the end of the 2008 season, the Clark University women's
tennis team has won back-to-back games following their 9-0 win over
Anna Maria College on Thursday evening.
The Cougars have now won three of their five matches this season
– a total that took them all 14 matches to reach in 2009.
Clark came out strong in doubles play with the freshman tandem
of Maggie
Swann (Portland, Maine) and Olivia
Levine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) collecting an 8-0 win at No. 1
doubles.
Swann would later go on to win her first ever match at No. 1
singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Victoria Minotti.
Emily
Schweitzer (Northampton, Mass.) collected a pair of
wins - first with Martha
Ziemer (Arlington, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles – and
second at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Lauren
Ziemer (Arlington, Mass.) teamed with Kristen
Cullity (Carver, Mass.) at No. 3 doubles to post an
8-1 win and then had a straight set win (6-1, 6-2) over Liz
Sama.
Clark returns to the courts on Saturday when they host NEWMAC
power MIT, while the AMCATS host Endicott.
