Cougars Secure 9-0 Win Over Anna Maria

Worcester, Mass. – For the first time since the end of the 2008 season, the Clark University women's tennis team has won back-to-back games following their 9-0 win over Anna Maria College on Thursday evening.

The Cougars have now won three of their five matches this season – a total that took them all 14 matches to reach in 2009.

Clark came out strong in doubles play with the freshman tandem of Maggie Swann (Portland, Maine) and Olivia Levine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) collecting an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles.

Swann would later go on to win her first ever match at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Victoria Minotti.

Emily Schweitzer (Northampton, Mass.) collected a pair of wins - first with Martha Ziemer (Arlington, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles – and second at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.

Lauren Ziemer (Arlington, Mass.) teamed with Kristen Cullity (Carver, Mass.) at No. 3 doubles to post an 8-1 win and then had a straight set win (6-1, 6-2) over Liz Sama.

Clark returns to the courts on Saturday when they host NEWMAC power MIT, while the AMCATS host Endicott.
