Westfield, Mass. – Buoyed by a 30th place finish by Erika Roth (Saco, Maine) and a 39th place performance by Nathan Buck (Portland, Maine), the Clark women (9th) and the Cougar men (17th) each turned in solid performances on Saturday afternoon at the James Earley Invitational.
Roth wrapped up the 5K course in 20:00.48 and was then followed by Isabel Burgess (Cumberland Foreside, Maine) in a time of 20:13.04, good for 41st place.
Crossing the line next for Clark was Heather Goodale (Middletown, Conn.) in 60th place, finishing the layout in 20:40.23. She was closely followed by Zoe Greenberg (Arlington, Mass.) in 62nd place, in a time of 20:44.06.
On the men's side meanwhile, Buck completed the 8K course in a time of 27:57.00 – 50 seconds ahead of teammate Joe Kennelly (New Windsor, N.Y.), who finished in 70th place (28:47.35).
Robert Gammell (Mattapoisett, Mass.) was the next Clark runner to wrap up the course, finishing in 89th place with a time of 29:23.35.
Both teams will return to the western part of the state next weekend when they take part in the Western New England University Invitational.
