Crusaders Clip Cougars, 4-3

Worcester, Mass. – Holy Cross swept all three doubles matches and held on for a 4-3 win over visiting Clark on Friday afternoon at the Holy Cross Tennis Courts.

The Crusaders move their record to 2-11 on the season, while Clark, playing the middle of their three spring matches, slips to 5-9.

Holy Cross' Molly Montgomery and Maya Welch edged the Cougar combination of Sarah Sachs and Gaby Suriano, 8-7 (7-5) in a tiebreak, to help the Crusaders secure the doubles point.

Emily Marr and Carolyn Chandley then registered an 8-3 win over Julia Bergeron and Emily Schweitzer at No. 2, before Emma Rudnick and Jessica DeSimone notched an 8-3 win as well at No. 3 over Virginia Cooke and Holly DiMichelle.

Suriano avenged her doubles defeat with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Montgomery at No. 1, while Olivia Levine also won in straight sets at No. 5 over Mary McAuliffe, 6-1, 6-2.

Clark's other victory came at No. 6 singles, courtesy of Schweitzer, who took care of Rudnick, 7-5, 7-5.
