Two Top Fives Push Cougars To Fourth Place Showing

Springfield, Mass. – Led by a pair of top five performances, Clark University finished an extremely impressive fourth at the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Western New England University at Supernant Field on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Nathan Buck (Portland, Maine) and freshman John Allard (Smithfield, R.I.) finished in almost on top of each other, with Buck posting a time of 26:35.38 and Allard clipping his heels at 26:35.91, good for third and fourth places respectively.

For Buck it marks his second top five finish of the season following a second place finish at the Worcester City Championships back on September 22.

Allard, meanwhile, earned his first top five performance and second top ten of his first season, chopping nearly three minutes off of his 8K showing at the Smith Invitational on September 9.

Joining Allard and Buck in the top 15 was Joe Kennelly (New Windsor, N.Y.), who crossed the line in 14th place with a time of 27:23.

Rob Gammell (Mattapoisett, Mass.) completed the 8K layout in 27:58, a time that placed him 24th while Will Walker (Falmouth, Maine) completed the Cougar scoring in 80th (30:03).

Clark will have next week off in preparation for the NEWMAC Championships which take place on Saturday, October 27 in Northampton.
