Box Score Auburndale, Fla. – Every member of the Clark lineup got a hit but in the end it wasn't enough as the Cougars dropped their fourth straight contest, an 11-6 decision to Waynesburg University on Friday morning at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex.
Nicholas Kellogg (Florence, Mass.) and Luke Carter (Brunswick, Maine) each had two hits apiece and Matthew Bohl (Amherst, Mass.) drove in two runs for Clark, playing behind the plate for the first time since his freshman season.
Andrew LeBlanc (Farmington, Conn.) went six innings for the Cougars, allowing 12 hits and six earned runs while striking out four.
Kyle Sasala did a great deal of damage for the Jackets, turning in a 3-for-5 day which included a triple and an RBI.
The game was 5-4 in the fourth after Bohl doubled home a pair, Kellogg drove in a run with a base hit and Ian Farrell (Bethany, Conn.) collected an RBI double – all in the third.
Then in the fourth Dan Lima (Manchester, Conn.) and James Cadogan (Ipswich, Mass.) had back-to-back base hits and Lima scored on a Shawn Lamothe (Bellingham, Mass.) sacrifice fly.
Clark tacked on another run in the fifth when Farrell scored on a Dennis Glynn (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) single.
The lead for the Cougars was short-lived however, as Waynesburg scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and the sixth, then tacked on single runs in the seventh and eighth.
Jacket hurler Anthony Longo made it stand, too, going the distance while allowing 11 hits and six earned runs.
Clark will look to return to the win column on Saturday when they wrap up their Florida trip with a pair of games against Wittenberg (Ohio) beginning at 9:00 a.m.
