Worcester, Mass. – Host Clark University swept through all three doubles matches en route to a convincing 8-1 win over Gordon College in non-league women's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon on the Corash Tennis Courts.

The win for the Cougars brings their overall record back to .500 at 5-5, while the Fighting Scots now sit at 2-6.

Clark used an 8-0 win at No. 1 behind Phoebe Hughes (Parkland, Fla.) and Gaby Suriano (San Salvador, El Salvador) over Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) and Sarah Hickey (Stony Brook, N.Y.) to kick start their doubles sweep.

Maggie Swann (Portland, Maine) and Kera Snyder (Portland, Maine) teamed up at No. 2 to collect an 8-2 win over Eva Kenna (Harvard, Mass.) and Jessie Dupre (North Billerica, Mass.) , while Paola Anasi and Rebecca Kravetz (Wayland, Mass.) dispatched of Hannah Damon (Mystic, Conn.) and Rachel Kauffman (Harleysville, Pa.) 8-6 at No. 3.

Hickey picked up Gordon's lone win at No. 2 singles as she outlasted Hughes, 6-4, 6-3.

Clark controlled the rest of the action led by Suriano's easy victory (6-0, 6-0) over Drescher at No. 1.

Swann dumped Dupre 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 and Snyder picked up her fifth career singles win over Kenna at No. 5 (6-2, 6-1), while Kravetz wrapped up the action with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Muriel Renfort (Brockton, Mass.).

The Cougars have now finished up a ten match September and will play five matches in October – all of which are against NEWMAC foes beginning with a visit to Mount Holyoke on Tuesday, October 2.

Gordon, meanwhile, is back in action tomorrow when they visit Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Eastern Nazarene.
