Cougars Score Nine In Non-League Win Over Falcons

Box Score

Leominster, Mass. – Freshman Nicholas O'Brien (Potomac, Md.) went 3-for-6 with three RBI from his leadoff spot to lead Clark University to a 9-4 win over Fitchburg State in non-league baseball action on Friday afternoon at Cannavino Field.

The win for the Cougars snaps a four game losing streak and the nine runs Clark scored equal their run total for the previous five games.

Down 4-2 after five innings, the Cougars erupted for four runs in the seventh, highlighted by O'Brien's three-run double.

Clark then tacked on two runs in the eighth and another in the ninth as they improved to 6-17 on the season.

Miles Sheehan (Madison, Conn.) was sharp on the mound for the visitors, tossing a career-best eight innings, scattering seven hits and giving just two earned runs in picking up his second win of the season.

In addition to O'Brien's career day, Jack Kenney (Saco, Maine) also had two hits and two RBI and James Conway (Newburyport, Mass.) added two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Clark will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Western Connecticut State for a doubleheader with the Colonials.
