Westfield, Mass. – Powered by a personal best time by freshman Ryan VanDine and the usual strong effort from John Allard (Smithfield, R.I.), the Clark University men's cross country squad posted an impressive 12th place finish among 37 teams at the annual James Earley Invitational on Saturday at Stanley State Park.
Four of the Cougars scoring five runners finished in the top 100. Allard was 31st, completing the 8K course in under 27 minutes at 26:50. He was followed by VanDine in 60th place after the freshman churned out a personal best of 27:54.
Rhys Duquette wasn't too far behind VanDine as he registered a 74 th place showing by wrapping up the course in 28:10, while the steadily improving Seamus O'Connor was 89th in 28:25.
Clark will now have a week off before returning to the race course at the Plansky Invitational hosted by Williams College on October 25.
