Providence, R.I. – Newcomers Isabelle Long (Bellevue, Wash.) and Stephanie Gallant (Charlton, Mass.) provided Clark's lone point and the visiting Cougars suffered an 8-1 setback to Rhode Island College in non-league women's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Anchorwomen, who improved to 2-0 with the victory, have now defeated the Scarlet and White in consecutive seasons.

Doubles action saw RIC pick up two points for the match as Chelsea Brown (Wallingford, Conn.) and partner Kim Daigle (Sterling, Mass.) defeated juniors Rebecca Kravetz (Wayland, Mass.) and Kera Snyder (Portland, Maine), 8-2, at No. 1 doubles.

That was followed by Jorgie Martin (Smithfield, R.I.) and Noelle Tiberi (Smithfield, R.I.) topping seniors Sarah Clay (Ossipee, N.H.) and Leah Siegel-Reamer (Pawtucket, R.I.), 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles.

The aforementioned Gallant and Long duo defeated Julie Reddy (Greenville, R.I.) and Sadie Campanella (Chepachet, R.I.), 8-6 at No. 2.

Reddy was strong at No. 4 singles, posting a straight set, 6-0, 6-0, victory over Gallant and Brown posted a win at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3, over Snyder.

The best match of the day came at No. 1 singles where Campanella outlasted Long in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 1 singles.

Second singles saw Daigle defeat Kravetz 6-2, 6-1 and junior Tressa Cannata (Cranston, R.I.) defeated Clay 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

The match at No. 6 singles saw freshman Laura Nastasi (Smithville, N.J.) take down Siegel-Reamer 6-2, 6-1.

Clark will return to the court on Saturday when they visit Simmons College at 12:00 p.m,
