North Dartmouth, Mass. – In one of the most competitive fields in recent memory that included Division I, II and III athletes, the Clark University men's cross country team fared extremely well finishing 18th in a field of 34 teams at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
John Allard (Smithfield, R.I.) crossed the finish line first for the Cougars, turning in a 61st place finish in a time of 26:48.
Rhys Duquette (Holyoke, Mass.) had another strong showing completing the course layout in 27:38, while Seamus O'Connor (Granby, Mass.) continued his upward trend, notching a personal best for the second race in a row with a time of 27:56.
Timothy Conley (Walpole, Mass.) was the fourth Clark participant to finish the race, registering a time of 28:12. He was followed by the Scarlet and White's fifth scoring runner in Samuel Smith (Hopkinton, Mass.) who shattered his own personal best by 30 seconds with a time of 28:18.
Clark will return to the trails on Saturday with the annual Worcester City Championship at Moore State Park in Paxton.
