Fourth Quarter Surge Sends Lions Past Clark, 77-53

Worcester, Mass. – Sierra Ducey (Poway, Calif.) finished with a monster performance of 21 points and 17 rebounds as visiting Emerson College powered past Clark University, 77-53 in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.

With the win, the Lions (2-4, 1-2 NEWMAC) snap a three-game losing streak, while the Cougars slip to 2-6 and have now dropped five games in a row.

Turning Point:
Ahead by just six heading into the fourth quarter, Emerson outscored the Cougars 25-8 in the final frame including holding the hosts without a basket for the final 4:36 and forced four turnovers during that span.

Standout Stars:
In addition to Ducey, Eastin Ashby (Pittston, Pa.) finished with a 21 points as well, shooting an extremely efficient 8-for-15 from the field. She was a key cog in the deciding fourth quarter, scoring nine of her season-high points.

Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, Calif.) recorded the fourth double figure scoring effort of her freshman season, ending with 15 points and five rebounds in just 21 minutes off the bench.

For the Cougars, Aretha Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.) posted a season-best 14 points, while backcourt mate Arielle Pierre (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished with a career-best nine points.

Ogechi Ezemma (Hope Valley, R.I.), meanwhile, making her first career start, racked up eight points, a career-best 13 rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Inside The Numbers:
With Boyle and Ducey leading the way, Emerson held a 40-18 edge in points in the paint and they took advantage of Clark's 21 turnovers, turning them into 28 points.

The Cougars shot just 32 percent from the field and struggled from the charity stripe as well, shooting 13-for-22 (59 percent).

Next On The Docket:
Clark returns to the hardwood on Tuesday for their final contest before the winter break when they visit Suffolk University, while Emerson hits the road on Tuesday as well, visiting Mount Ida.
