WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark University women's basketball first-year Atiya Watson was named d3hoops.com Region 2 Rookie of the Year as announced earlier this week.

Watson, from Los Angeles, Calif, earned her first d3hoops.com accolade of her career. The guard was named to the All-NEWMAC Second Team this season as well.

Bri Frongillo (Emerson), Hannah Martin (Smith), and Sofia Neary (Salve Regina) also garnered All-Region honors.

Watson averaged 11.4 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per night. She ranked second among all NEWMAC first-years in points, while ranking sixth in the league in steals per game. Watson reached double-figures in 16 contests this season, including a career-high 24 points in the NEWMAC Championship against Smith.
