Worcester, Mass. – Zack Blais (Tiverton, R.I.) scored a pair of goals less than seven minutes apart to seal a 4-0 win for Clark University over Becker College in non-league men's soccer action in the first game of day two at the Worcester City Championships at WPI's Alumni Field.

The win for Clark sends them to 2-0-1, while the Hawks (0-3) are not only still searching for their first win in 2015 but their first goal of the year as well.

TJ Zirkman (Freehold, N.J.) put the Cougars ahead early on with his first marker of the season in the game's tenth minute.

Amazingly, the Scarlet and White were only ahead 1-0 despite a first half that saw them outshoot Becker 17-0 and hold a 9-0 edge in corner kicks in the first 45 minutes.

Ben Zieff (Nantucket, Mass.) nearly added his first collegiate goal late in the first half when he got by some defenders and sent his shot left to right but a Hawk defender was able to track it down and send it out before it crossed the goal line.

The heat turned up almost immediately in the for Clark as the second half began when Tim Rovnak (Portland, Maine) set up Jackson Cohan-Smith (Portland, Maine) for the sophomore's first collegiate tally less than two minutes in at 46:23.

With the Cougar offense continuing to pepper Becker netminder Benjamin Cadman (Harvard, Mass.) with shots, the Scarlet and White broke through again as some excellent passing from Ethan Ziemba (Glen Gardner, N.J.) and Jack Stark (Abington, Mass.) led to Blais' third goal in as many games, making the score, 3-0 in the 62nd minute.

Blais and the Cougars tacked on another goal, this time when the junior striker converted a penalty kick at 67:30, giving him his fourth goal of the season – more than he had in the first 33 games of his career combined.

Alistair Richardson (Tolland, Conn.) and Willie McDonald (Norwell, Mass.) split time in goal for Clark and neither saw much action as the Hawks only had one shot on the afternoon.

Cadman, meanwhile, stood tall for Becker, turning back a career-high 16 shots.

Off to their best start since a 4-0-0 mark to begin the 2011 campaign, the Cougars visit Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday before playing host to nationally-ranked Brandeis under the lights on Friday, September 11.
