Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Auburndale, Fla. – Clark University got a pair of stellar pitching performances from Patrick Robinson (Watertown, Conn.) and Mike Tice (Chelmsford, Mass.) and the Cougars posted a pair of impressive non-league victories on Sunday afternoon.

Game 1 Information
Score:
Clark University 6, SUNY-Poly 1
Records: Clark University 3-1; SUNY-Poly 0-3
Location: Lake Myrtle Field #2, Auburndale, Fla.

How It Happened:
Tice set the tone for the day for the Cougars as he went the distance, scattering six hits with six strikeouts and one earned run as he picked up right where he left off a season ago when he set a school record for wins in a season.

Clark broke through offensively in the third inning where Kyle Shaw (Litchfield, N.H.) led off the frame with a double and then scored on a Teddy Downing (Cambridge, Mass.) single through the left side. The Cougars tacked on another run later in the inning when Zach Kelley (Hadley, Mass.) drove in Kyle Bonicki (Waterbury, Conn.) with a single.

The Wildcats scratched across their lone run of the game in the fourth but Clark responded with four unearned runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by an Adam Chochrek (Foxboro, Mass.) single to left.

Now comfortably ahead 6-1, Tice retired six straight batters and then got a game-ending double play to seal the win.

Inside The Boxscore:
Clark banged out ten hits in the opener, getting three from Kelley and two each from Downing and Jackson Posnik (Wellesley, Mass.).

Game 2 Information
Score:
Clark University 2, SUNY-Poly 1
Records: Clark University 4-1; SUNY-Poly 0-4
Location: Lake Myrtle Field #2, Auburndale, Fla.

How It Happened:
As they did in the first game, freshman played a huge role in the nightcap victory as the Scarlet and White improved to 4-1.

Robinson yielded ten hits for Clark but only allowed one run and picked the win, tossing seven complete innings to go along with five strikeouts.

David Rotando (Cold Spring, N.Y.) opened the game up with a leadoff double down the left field line and immediately came around to score on a Kyle Bonicki (Waterbury, Conn.) single to center.

The Wildcats did even the game in the bottom of the second when three straight singles knotted the score at 1-1.

Things stayed that way until the top of the seventh when Rudy Sarro (New Fairfield, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second with two outs. Rotando was at it again, doubling down the left field line once more, bringing in Sarro for the go ahead run.

SUNY-Poly threatened in the bottom of the seventh, putting runners on first and second with one out, but Robinson was able to a groundout and a popout to end the game.

Inside The Boxscore:
The Wildcats actually outhit the Cougars, 10-8 but they left nine men on base. Clark got two hits each from Rotando, Bonicki and Derek Lefebvre (Groton, Mass.).
