Box Score WORCESTER, Mass.. – Clark University women's lacrosse closed out the 2020-21 spring season on Saturday afternoon as Springfield's Kate Sarnacki tallied a game-high six goals to pace the Pride in a 21-2 final score at Granger Field.
Clark was paced by first-year Claudia Oakleaf (Westford, Mass.) who tallied both goals for the Cougars. Senior Hannah Favaloro (Blackstone, Mass.) and junior Iris Knowles (Clifton, N.J.) each scooped up four groundballs while sophomore Maddie Conners (Devon, Pa.) stopped six shots in net during the second half.
For Springfield, Sarnacki's performance was aided by Taylor Pichel and Angelia Altebrando who scored four and three goals respectively to the Pride.
Oakleaf started the scoring just two minutes in as the rookie lined up a free position shot and tucked in her first career goal into the top-right ninety for a 1-0 lead. Springfield went on a lengthy run the remainder of the half as Sarnacki's first of the game sparked a run of 13 straight goals for the Pride to take a 13-1 lead into the halftime break.
Springfield continued to push the tempo in the second half with Gabby Fogg's goal eight minutes into the frame leading to six consecutive goals from the Pride. With 6:39 to go, Clark broke the streak as Oakleaf found the net once again, this time converting on the first career assist from Mary Greene (Leeds, Mass.).
Springfield scored one more time on a marker from Pichel, closing out the contest and securing the NEWMAC's top-seed in the upcoming postseason with the 21-2 final score.
