Women's Tennis Edged by Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (1-1) wrapped up their fall season with a road match against Bridgewater State (4-4) and fell 6-3 to the Bears on Thursday afternoon from the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

How it Happened

  • Junior Hannah Russo and first-year Sunjana Venkitakrishnan came away with a thrilling 8-7 (7-3) win in number one doubles over Madeline Von Ruden and Abigail Ramer.
  • Seniors Liliya Georgista and Maeve McEnroe battled with Mackenzie Silveira and Allison Carter in number two doubles, but were edged 8-7 (7-4).
  • Senior Nardin Sayoufi and sophomore Emma Allen fell 8-6 to Vanessa Rosa and Meghan Lotti in number three doubles as the Bears came away with two doubles points.
  • Venkitakrishnan came away with a 6-0, 6-4 win in number two singles as she came away with wins in both singles and doubles on the day.
  • McEnroe played a lengthy game in number four singles in which she took the first set 6-3, fell 6-4 in the second set, and won 10-8 in the final set.
  • Georgista (No. 3) and Sayoufi (No. 5) both fell in straight sets, but each won four games in each set.
  • Allen's match in number six singles went three sets as she won the first game 7-5, but fell 6-2, 6-3 in the final two sets.
