Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (8-14, 1-8 NEWMAC) fell to MIT (12-9, 7-3 NEWMAC) by an 80-59 margin on Saturday afternoon from Kneller Gymnasium on Senior Day.
Prior to the game, senior team manager Jo Diecidue, seniors Julia Beebe, Cam Richey, Hallie Johnson, and Emily Sifferlen, and graduate student Hannah Favaloro were honored prior to the game for their contributions to the Clark women's basketball program.
How it Happened
- Clark took an early 9-5 lead sparked by seven points from sophomore Alaina Schatzabel and a basket from Favaloro and another layup from Schatzabel pushed the lead to 12-8 with 5:20 left in the first quarter.
- Sifferlen and Schatzabel combined to score the next six Clark points, three each as MIT took a 22-18 lead after one quarter of play.
- Favaloro scored Clark's first three points of the second as MIT opened the frame on a 10-3 run and a three-pointer from sophomore Jacqueline Faulise pulled Clark back within six at 32-26 with 6:55 remaining in the second.
- The Cougars then went on an 8-2 run led by four points from Favaloro and two from Sifferlen and junior Sarah Zambrano to tie the game at 34-34, but MIT ended the half on a 9-5 run to lead 43-39 at the break.
- Schatzabel made a layup to get within three before MIT pushed the lead to 19 on a run that was halted by a Favaloro jumper as the Engineers led 60-43 and Sifferlen made a free throw before the end of the quarter in what was now a 69-44 game after the third.
- Favaloro led the way with five points in the fourth quarter, while Sifferlen, Richey, juniors Juiianne Liebow, MiKayla Dotson, and Zambrano each scored as Clark outscored MIT 15-11 in the fourth as MIT won 80-59.
