WALPOLE, Mass.- Emerson (6-10, 1-5 NEWMAC) picked up an 8-1 win against Clark (4-8, 0-4 NEWMAC) from the Wimbledon 109 Club in Walpole on Friday.
Doubles
• The Lions picked up two points at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Junior Nardin Sayoufi and first-year Leilani Brown played for the Cougars at No. 2 while senior Mahek Deora and first-year Emma Allen played at No. 3.
• No. 1 doubles would prove to be a battle, with senior Grayson LaCroix and sophomore Hannah Russo going to war against their Emerson opponents. The match came down to a tiebreak at 7-7 with the scarlet and white bringing out some of their points in a 7-4 tiebreak to give Clark a point.
Singles
• The Lions scooped a pair of points over Brown and junior Maeve McEnroe at No. 3 and 4 singles.
• Russo was down 6-1, 5-1 when she suddenly changed the narrative of her match. Applying pressure on the backhand side, Russo broke twice and pushed the second set to 5-4, even having a deuce point in the tenth game before finally falling to her opponent.
• LaCroix did as she does best, battling back after dropping the first set. LaCroix lost 6-3 in the first set before roaring to life with strong pacing and groundstrokes, taking the second 7-5. In a nail-biting tiebreaker third set, LaCroix came up just short, losing 11-9, but fought hard throughout.
• Sayoufi and Allen would fall at No. 5 and 6 to finish out the match.

Clark heads to Mount Holyoke on Tuesday to face off with the Lyons. That match begins at 4:30 from the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts.
