SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.- Clark (4-9, 0-5 NEWMAC) was dealt a 9-0 setback at the hands of Mount Holyokoke (3-7, 2-3 NEWMAC) on Tuesday.
Doubles
• The Cougars were dealt losses at No. 1 and 3 doubles. Senior Grayson LaCroix and sophomore Hannah Russo played at No. 1 doubles while first-years Emily Anderson and Amy Marin played at No. 3.
• Junior Liliya Georgista and first-year Leilani Brown nearly stole a point for Clark at No. 2 doubles. Despite going down 6-2, the pair hung tight and brought the contest back to 6-6 before finally falling 8-6 in a deuce game.
Singles
• LaCroix, Brown, and Georgista all fell at No. 2, 3, and 4 singles to secure the victory for the Lions.
• Russo hung close in the first set in a 6-4, 6-1 defeat at No. 1.
• Junior Nardin Sayoufi fell 6-3 in the first set, before forcing a 6-6 tiebreak in the second. Despite falling 7-4 in the tiebreak, the junior showed poise and promise for the scarlet and white.
• Junior Maeve McEnroe took the only set of the day for Clark 6-3 at No. 5 singles. The second set would be far more even, with McEnroe eventually losing 7-6(2) in the tiebreak. While McEnroe fell 10-5 in the third set tiebreak, her consistency helped her find success throughout the match.
