WORCESTER, Mass.- Clark (4-12, 0-8 NEWMAC) lost their season finale 8-1 against Wheaton (6-12, 3-5 NEWMAC). Prior to the game, Clark honored two seniors who have been a part of a Clark team that has earned nine wins, including an upset over the Wheaton Lyons last season. The players honored were Mahek Deora and Grayson LaCroix.
Doubles
• The Lyons controlled the match at No. 1 and 3 doubles. LaCroix and sophomore Hannah Russo played No. 1 while Deora and first-year Emma Allen played No. 3.
• The Cougars kept it close at No. 2 doubles. After going down early junior Liliya Georgista and first-year Leilani Brown dug deep and brought the match back, eventually losing 8-5 in a close affair.
Singles
• The Lyons would clinch the match with convincing wins at No. 3 and 1 singles over Brown and Russo.
• Junior Maeve McEnroe took a few games but lost at No. 5 singles, while Georgista was forced to retire down in the second set after injuring her thumb.
• Junior Nardin Sayoufi nearly snagged a point for Clark at No. 6 singles. After losing a close first set 6-4 the junior used her patient style to wear down her opponent in a 6-4 winning second set. After going down 3-0 in the tiebreak, Sayoufi brought the match back, and even saved two match points late, before finally losing 10-8 in the tiebreak.
• LaCroix would be the lone point for Clark. A close 7-5 first set went in favor of LaCroix, who then lost five straight games before regaining momentum in a 6-3 lost second set. In the tiebreaker the senior left it all on the court, winning a grueling 13-11 tiebreaker to close out her career on top.
