WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (1-0) opened their 2022 season with a 5-4 win over UMass Dartmouth (5-2) on Wednesday afternoon from the Corash Tennis Courts.

How it Happened
- Senior Nardin Sayoufi and sophomore Leilani Brown began the afternoon with an 8-4 win in number two doubles over Walters and O'Connell.
- In number three doubles, Clark ended up taking a 2-1 lead in the match with an 8-6 victory by sophomore Emma Allen and senior Maeve McEnroe.
- Junior Hannah Russo and senior Liliya Georgista opened the day against UMass Dartmouth's number one doubles team of Winter and Riddick and fell 8-3.
- Sayoufi gave Clark a 3-1 lead with a 6-4, 7-6 win in number one singles over Winter.
- Brown also registered a win in singles as she recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory in number three singles against Yang from UMass Dartmouth to give Clark a 4-1 edge.
- After the Corsairs earned the next three points, the match came down to Georgista in number two singles and the senior came away with a 6-1, 6-4 victory as Clark won 5-4.

The Cougars will return to action on Saturday, October 1 when they welcome Roger Williams to the Corash Tennis Courts beginning at 12:00 p.m.
