WATERFORD, Conn. – The Clark University women's cross country finished their final event before NEWMAC's on Saturday morning from the Connecticut College Invitational in the 6k event.
Coach Mauro's Thoughts
"It was an epic day for the Clark Cross Country Day! Excitement was in the air at beautiful Harkness Parks! Today we celebrated Pride, our Family, Alumni, and our seniors with a post-race picnic! The support from our Clark XC family was palpable as the team walked away with 6 season bests and 9 PR's! A phenomenal day for the Clark XC Team! The women's team placed 14
th and the men's team placed 17th!"
"Lily C led the charge for the Clark XC Women with a season's best and a time of 25:29.3! Lily has been steadily improving throughout the season and I have a strong suspicion that a breakthrough meet is on her horizon. Siobhan had a massive PR of 26:53 for 6K! Her third PR of the season! Siobhan has put in the work and it is showing! The sky is the limit for Siobhan! Abbie ran a season's best and was only 7 seconds off her PR! Abby has done the hard work off the course to set herself up for success! She looked and was strong and in control from start to finish! Sophia had a phenomenal day running a second PR of the season! Sophia has been a dedicated, kind, hardworking leader of the cross country team and we were so thrilled to be able to honor her and all that she has done for the team today! Emma was our Scarlet Spike recipient for the meet! She not only had a PR of almost 2 minutes, but she also fought a hard mental battle today and came out victorious! We are so proud of Emma and her growth this year! Wynne and Fatima worked together to both run season bests! Fatima had a wonderful race despite feeling under the weather and Wynne was only 2 seconds off her PR! Both have exciting things on their horizon! Lily V ran an amazing race for a PR one minute and 13 seconds! Lily finished and said she still had gas in the tank! A great sign for NEWMAC's that has me excited! Meg gave it her all today but a finish just wasn't in the cards! That happens in this sport! I am so proud of the effort she gave and the way she showed up for her teammates. We are so happy that Meg has shared the last four years with the team! Nani, Mo, and Coco are three pees of positivity in a pod! They spread cheer, motivation, and pure joy throughout the whole meet. I am so grateful for their support and the way they embrace their roles!"
