Women's Tennis Falls in NEWMAC Opener to Smith

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (2-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) closed out their fall season and opened NEWMAC play with a match against Smith (1-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) and fell 9-0 to the Pioneers on Tuesday afternoon from the Corash Tennis Courts.

How it Happened
  • In number one doubles, graduate student Maeve McEnroe and sophomore Merielle Kane fell in straight sets.
  • Sophomore Crisi Patel and first-year Olivia Shipley also dropped their match 8-0 in number two play.
  • In number three doubles, juniors Emma Allen and Amy Marin fell 8-0.
  • McEnroe took a total of three games in number two singles, but dropped the match 6-2, 6-1.
  • Senior Hannah Russo won two games between the two sets, but fell 6-0, 6-2.
  • Shipley took a game in number four singles before falling 6-0, 6-1.
  • Kane, Patel, and Allen all lost in straight sets.
What's Next
The Cougars will return to the court in the spring for the 2024 portion of their season.
