Shipley Wins in Singles and Doubles in Loss to RIC

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Clark University women's tennis team (1-2) traveled to Rhode Island for the second time this year to take on RIC (3-1) and fell 7-2 on Thursday afternoon from the RIC Tennis Complex.  

How it Happened
  • First-year Olivia Shipley and sophomore Crisi Patel recorded an 8-5 win in number two doubles.
  • Graduate student Maeve McEnroe and sophomore Merielle Kane battled in number one doubles, but were edged 8-7 (7-3).
  • Juniors Emma Allen and Amy Marin competed in number three doubles and won three games, before falling 8-3.
  • Shipley also won in number four singles action with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
  • McEnroe battled in number two action in a pair of competitive sets, but was edged 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
  • Senior Hannah Russo took three games in each set in number one singles action, falling 6-3, 6-3.
  • Kane competed in number three singles and won a combined six games, dropping the first set 6-4 and the second 6-2.
  • Patel (No. 5) and Allen (No. 6) also competed in singles action.
What's Next
The scarlet and white will return to action on Tuesday with a home match against Lesley beginning at 4:00 p.m. from the Corash Tennis Courts.
