KEENE, N.H. – The Clark University women's cross country finished their fourth event of the year and placed 13th overall at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday morning.
Coach Mauro's Thoughts
The Cougars had an amazing day with 7 all time personal bests and 12 season bests! The women's team placed 13
th out of 23 teams!
Lily Carey led the way with a season's best time! Despite not feeling 100% at the start, Lily gave it 100% of what she had and had a tactful and exciting race! Siobhan ran an all-time PR of 21:53 to place second for the Cougars! She kicked the last 800 meters in, just like she planned! Siobhan's consistency and progression this season is remarkably exciting! This is her second personal best in a row! Abbie was calm, cool, and collected throughout the race. She ran a season's best and was in control the whole race! Abbie ran almost a minute faster per mile than her 3K at the start of the year! Emmy had a phenomenal race also almost running a minute faster per mile from her 3K at the start of the year to today's 5K! She responded to the racers around her and used her Emmy grit to make a move and kick it in that last 200 meters! Despite having a head cold, Sophia tied her time from last year and ran a season's best of 24:01! Her determination and the racers around her helped pull Sophia through a great race! Emma ran a season's best today! Emma has been working hard on unlocking her next gear and that shone through today! I could not be prouder! Fatima and
Lily Vincent worked together throughout the whole race, pushing one another! This race marked Fatima's return! Despite not feeling 100% Fatima looked strong and kicked it in that last 200 meters, demonstrating her soccer speed!
Lily Vincent ran an all-time PR of 24:49, despite having a rough week! Lily worked hard, stayed positive, and not only earned herself a PR, but also earned the honor of The Scarlet Spike! Wynne had a strong race, leading a pack for the entirety of the race. She was strong, as always, and gave what she had today!
We would be no where without our support crew! Josh is always the first person to volunteer to help carry any and everything that needs to be moved! Nani clapped so hard for every runner that I thought her hands were going to bleed! Dillon heard the call for more cowbell and answered! He cowbelled so hard he sustained a minor injury! Mo is always a positive cheerful presence who helps her teammates feel calm, cool, and collected! Coco brought the energy! She cheered her heart out boosting her teammates up each time they passed! Julia and Ethan were a dynamic duo of cheer, uplifting every runner that passed! Every member of this team contributed to an all-around amazing day!
