Women's Tennis Opens 2023 With 6-3 Win Over St. Joe's (CT.)

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (1-0) welcomed St. Joe's (Ct.) (0-1) to the Corash Tennis Courts and recorded a 6-3 victory in their first match of the season on Friday afternoon.  

How it Happened
  • In number one doubles, graduate student Maeve McEnroe and sophomore Merielle Kane came away with an 8-6 victory over Gilland and Garcia.
  • Sophomore Crisi Patel and first-year Olivia Shipley recorded a thrilling 8-7 (8-5) win in number two doubles against Sritasav and Milo.
  • Juniors Emma Allen and Amy Marin fell 8-5 in number three doubles to Alvarez and Gardella.
  • Senior Hannah Russo registered an 8-2 win in number one singles against Gilland.
  • McEnroe won 8-6 in number two singles over Garcia.
  • Kane (No. 3) and Marin (No. 6) also recorded victories by an 8-4 and 8-7, 7-5 margin.
  • Patel (No. 4) and Allen (No. 5) fell in close matches 8-4 and 8-6, respectively.
What's Next
The Cougars will return to the court on Saturday, September 16 with a road match at Roger Williams at 12:00 p.m.
