WESTWOOD, Mass. – Clark University volleyball graduate student
Victoria Pastor was named to the All-NEWMAC First Team as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
This marks Pastor's first conference honor and is the first Cougar to earn a spot on an All-NEWMAC Team since 2018 when Ana Patricia Mercado was named to the Second Team. Pastor was also recognized as NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week on October 28.
"I'm very happy to see Victoria getting recognized for her efforts this season," said head coach Matthew Heckler. "She's been a heavy contributor in every aspect of our team this year and we gave her quite of a lot of responsibility. She has been a great player and leader all year and I couldn't be more proud."
Pastor (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) became the fifth player in program history to reach the 1,000 kill club earlier this season against Mount Holyoke and ends her career fourth all-time with 1,059 kills. For the season, finished in the top seven of the NEWMAC and led the team with 333 kills. The outside hitter recorded 21 games with double-digit kills, including a pair of matches with over 20 kills.
In regular season five-set wins against Wheaton (10/8) and Babson (10/22), Pastor tallied 24 and 26 kills respectively, with the 26 kills going down as her career-high. In NEWMAC play, Pastor tallied at least 10 kills in 10 of 11 matches and led the Cougars in kills in all of them. Pastor also added 238 digs, 27 blocks, and 19 service aces across 26 matches.
Pastor played a massive hand in helping the Cougars host their first NEWMAC Tournament game since 2016, guiding the team to their fourth consecutive playoff appearance, and the seven conference regular season wins were the most since 2016. She wraps up her illustrious career with 1,059 kills, 678 digs, 156 blocks, and 61 service aces. Pastor also earned a spot on two All-NEWMAC Academic Teams.
