WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (3-5, 0-2 NEWMAC) competed in their first NEWMAC match of the 2024 portion of their schedule against Wheaton (8-3, 2-0 NEWMAC) and fell 8-1 to the Lyons on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles: Wheaton 3, Clark 0
Singles: Wheaton 5, Clark 1
- Senior Hannah Russo tallied Clark's lone win in number one singles, winning 6-4, 6-3 over Muller.
- Shipley won five games in the first set in number two singles, but fell 7-5, 6-3 to Haraj-Sai.
- In number six singles, Maltseva battled back after losing the first set 6-2, by winning the second set 7-6 before falling 10-3 in the tiebreak.
- Kane dropped her number four singles match 6-3, 6-1 to Hollis.
- McEnroe (No. 3) won a combined three games across two sets and Gakidis (No. 5) won one game.
What's Next
Clark will close out a two-game homestand on Friday when they welcome Salve Regina to Corash for a NEWMAC match beginning at 3:00 p.m.
