WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (3-7, 0-4 NEWMAC) hosted Springfield (3-9, 3-2 NEWMAC) for their senior day game and on Saturday afternoon from the Corash Tennis Courts and fell 9-0.
Senior
Hannah Russo was honored prior to the match for her contributions to the Clark women's tennis program.
Doubles: Springfield 3, Clark 0
- Russo and first-year Olivia Shipley took a pair of games in number one play, but were edged 8-2.
- In number two doubles, graduate student Maeve McEnroe and sophomore Merielle Kane won three games in their set before falling 8-3.
- First-year Winifred Gakidis and sophomore Crisi Patel rounded out Clark's doubles play, dropping the set 8-0.
Singles: Springfield 6, Clark 0
- First-year Varvara Maltseva won a pair of games in the second set before falling 6-0, 6-2 in number six play.
- McEnroe (No. 2) and Patel (No. 5) each took a game, but dropped their matches 6-0, 6-1.
- Shipley (No. 1), Kane (No. 3), and Gakidis (No. 4) also competed in singles play.
What's Next
The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they welcome Babson to the Corash Tennis Courts for a match beginning at 3:30 p.m.
