WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (3-9, 0-6 NEWMAC) traveled to North Reading to take on Emerson (5-12, 2-6 NEWMAC) and fell 6-3 to the Lions on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles: Emerson 2, Clark 1
- Graduate student Maeve McEnroe and sophomore Merielle Kane recorded a convincing 8-4 victory over Perry and McGovern.
- In number two doubles, first-year Crisi Patel and first-year Olivia Shipley won three games, but fell 8-3 to Wilson and Kendi Bispham.
- First-year Winifred Gakidis and junior Emma Allen took six games in number three doubles, but dropped the match 8-6 to Oglensky and Stinson.
Singles: Emerson 4, Clark 2
- Kane also recorded a win in number four singles, topping McGovern 6-1, 6-4.
- First-year Varvara Maltseva also registered a 7-5, 6-4 win over Susan Eyring in number six action.
- McEnroe battled with Oglensky in number three action, but dropped the competitive match 6-2, 7-6 (1).
- Russo won three games in the first set of number one play, but fell 6-3, 6-1 to Wilson.
- Shipley (No. 2) and Gakidis (No. 5) each lost their matches 6-2, 6-1 to Perry and Briones.
What's Next
The Cougars will return to the courts on Monday afternoon when they host Salve Regina for their final home match of the year beginning at 3:00 p.m.
