WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (3-10, 0-7 NEWMAC) fell 5-4 to Salve Regina (3-12, 1-6 NEWMAC) in their final home game of the 2023-24 season on Monday afternoon from the Corash Tennis Courts.
Doubles: Clark 2, Salve Regina 1
- In number one doubles, senior Hannah Russo and first-year Olivia Shipley faced Salve Regina's Stevens/Davis, and the Cougars duo won 8-2.
- Clark's second doubles team of graduate student Maeve McEnroe and sophomore Merielle Kane topped Murphy/Rieg, by a final score of 8-3.
- In number three doubles, first-year Winifred Gakidis and sophomore Crisi Patel played against Salve Regina's Scherer/Pinto and fell 8-2.
Singles: Salve Regina 4, Clark 2
- Shipley recorded a victory in number two singles in three sets after falling 6-4 in the first and winning 6-2, 6-1 in the second and third sets.
- First-year Varvara Maltseva tallied Clark's final win of the day with a 6-1, 6-4 victory in number six play.
- Russo played a pair of competitive sets in number one singles before falling 7-6, 6-2.
- McEnroe won two games in each set of number three play, but dropped the match 6-2, 6-2.
- Kane recorded four games won in the second set, but lost the match 6-1, 6-4.
- Gakidis (No. 5) also competed for the Cougars.

Clark will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with a road NEWMAC match at Wellesley beginning at 4:00 p.m.
