NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Clark University men's cross country team competed at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday morning, joining a field of 37 teams. The Cougars sent 10 runners to the 8K race, with four setting new personal bests in the event.

Sophomore Summit Smoker led the Cougars with a 69th-place finish in a field of 371 runners, clocking in at 26:35.5.

Junior Robert Burton was next across the line with a time of 28:30.9, followed closely by first-year William Stone at 28:34.4.

First-year Benjamin Pennington set a career best with a time of 28:39.0, improving his previous mark by seven seconds.

Classmate Calvin Hillis Piecyk also notched a personal best, breaking the 30-minute mark for the first time with a 29:15.6 finish.

Senior William Pulvino (29:43.7), junior Gage Delgado (29:46.2), and sophomore Nathaniel Storck (30:51.2) were the next three Cougars to finish.

First-years Rodeo Purves-Langer (31:06.5) and Miles Caproni (32:48.1) each recorded career-best times, while first-year Samuel Wong (34:12.0) closed out the race for Clark.

The Scarlet and White now turn their attention to the NEWMAC Championships on November 1, with races beginning at 11:00 AM in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
