HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Clark University women's tennis team (1-6) registered their first victory of the season on the first day of their spring break trip when they blanked Mary Baldwin (0-3) on Sunday afternoon.

Doubles: Clark 2, Mary Baldwin 1

• Sophomore Varvara Maltseva and first-year Amanda Keith blanked Wyatt and Barnes in number two doubles with a 6-0 win.
• Junior Crisi Patel and first-year Chau Quach recorded their first victory as a tandem in number three play with a 6-3 victory.
• In number one doubles, first-year Larkin Gardinier and junior Merielle Kane won two games, but were bested 2-6 by Luiz and Chapman.

Singles: Clark 6, Mary Baldwin 0

• In number one singles, Gardinier dropped the first set 5-7 before rallying back with a 6-4 win in the second set and a 10-4 victory in the deciding set against Luiz.
• Maltseva registered a competitive 7-5, 6-4 win in number two action over Bantel.
• In number three singles, Kane had a back-and-forth match with Chapman, but prevailed 6-3, 7-5.
• Keith blanked Wyatt 6-0 in the first set before winning the final set 6-4 in number four play.
• Quach (6-1) and senior Emma Allen (8-0) both tallied victories in number five and six singles.

The Cougars will return to action tomorrow night when they compete against Capital University beginning at 6:00 p.m.
