Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. – The Clark University women's tennis team (2-9, 0-2 NEWMAC) traveled to Salve Regina (4-6, 1-0 NEWMAC) for their second NEWMAC match of the year and dropped the match 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles: Salve 3, Clark 0
- Sophomores Olivia Shipley and Winifred Gakidis competed in number two doubles against Murphy and Rieg and won four games before falling 4-6.
- First-year Amanda Keith and sophomore Varvara Maltseva tallied three victories in number three doubles in a contest against Barros and Murdock, but were edged 3-6.
- In number one doubles, junior Merielle Kane and first-year Larkin Gardinier competed against Davis and Pinto and dropped the contest 0-6.
Singles: Salve 5, Clark 1
- In number six singles, Keith tallied a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Nelson.
- First-year Elena Zhakov took the first set 6-4 against Vega in number five action before falling 2-6, 4-6 in the final two sets.
- Shipley won four games in the first set against Murphy and three in the second set, but dropped the contest 4-6, 3-6 in number three singles.
- Maltseva tallied three wins in each set against Davis in number two action before falling 3-6, 3-6.
- In number four singles, Kane recorded three wins in the first set and two in the second in a 3-6, 2-6 loss to Rieg,
- Gardinier registered three games won across two sets, but dropped the contest 2-6, 1-6 to Pinto.
