WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (3-13, 1-6 NEWMAC) hosted their senior day match against Emerson (2-13, 0-7 NEWMAC) and earned their first conference win of the year with a 5-2 victory on Saturday morning from the Corash Tennis Courts.
Doubles: Clark 2, Emerson 1
- Sophomore Varvara Maltseva and sophomore Olivia Shipley earned Clark's first doubles victory of the day with a 6-4 win over Briones and Jones in number two play.
- Junior Merielle Kane and first-year Larkin Gardinier battled with Miner and Stinson in number one doubles and recorded a 7-5 win.
- In number three doubles, Quach and first-year Amanda Keith took three games before falling 3-6 to Beverly and Pimenova.
Singles: Clark 4, Emerson 2
- Gardinier won both sets 6-4, 6-4 in number one singles against Miner.
- Maltseva earned her second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Pimenova in number three action.
- In number four singles, Kane took the first set 6-2 and the second 6-4 against Beverly.
- Keith recorded Clark's final singles win after dropping the first set 1-6, battled back to win 7-5, 6-3 over Stinson in number five play.
- Shipley dropped the first set 1-6, won the second set 6-4, and was edged 5-7 in the final set against Briones in number two action.
- Allen fell 3-6 in the first, won 6-0 in the second, but was bested 3-6 in the deciding set against Jones in number six play.

The scarlet and white will close out their season with a home match against Wellesley on Tuesday afternoon beginning at 3:30 p.m.
