Branson Named Director of Sports Medicine

WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark University Director of Athletics and Recreation Trish Cronin announced the appointment of Nicolette Branson as Director of Sports Medicine on Friday morning.

"We are thrilled to welcome Nicolette Branson to the Clark Athletics family as our new Director of Sports Medicine," said Cronin. "Nicolette brings a wealth of experience across a variety of athletic settings, from high school to collegiate sports. Her diverse background, leadership in health and safety initiatives, and proven ability to manage complex medical and operational needs make her an outstanding addition to our department. We're confident that her dedication to student-athlete well-being and her collaborative spirit will elevate our sports medicine program and enhance the overall experience for our athletes."

Branson arrives to Worcester after spending the past three years as Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer at Mashpee Middle-High School. Some of Branson's responsibilities as athletic trainer included managing a budget, purchasing supplies, and overseeing medical clearances. As Assistant Athletic Director, Branson helped coordinate scheduling, workplace interns, manage academics and district requirements, collaborated with the Department of Public Works, and assisted with the ordering of sports equipment.

Prior to working at Mashpee, Branson worked as an athletic trainer at Dean College for two years. Within that role, she oversaw all of the varsity sports, managed the budget, and served as a liaison with team physicians and physical therapy clinics. Branson also served as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and was an adjunct professor in her time at Dean.

Branson was also named the Cape Cod Baseball League Director of COVID-19 Operations and an athletic trainer. She helped create, update, and implement league wide COVID-19 policies and procedures, manage a budget, and worked with Quest Diagnostics testing. Branson also worked for the Cotuit Kettleers in the summer of 2019.

Other roles Branson has filled include athletic trainer at Loyola Chicago (Sep. 2020-Apr. 2021), athletic trainer for the Joliet Slammers (July-Sep. 2020), and athletic trainer at Marathon Physical Therapy (Jul. 2019-Mar. 2020).

Branson graduated from Temple with a bachelor's degree in athletic training and earned her master's in sport management from Drexel University. She holds licensures on the NATA Board, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Athletic Trainer's License, American Red Cross BLS CPR/AED/First Aid, National Athletic Trainers' Association, and Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association.
