Aliaun Iscandari was named NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
This marks Iscandari's first NEWMAC accolade and is the second Cougars to receive this honor this season, as sophomore
Boluwasefe John was named Offensive Athlete of the Week earlier this season.
Iscandari (Hawthorne, Calif.) averaged 23.7 points, 4.7 steals, 3.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in three games played as the Cougars posted a pair of NEWMAC wins this week. The first-year netted a career-high 33 points, eight steals, six assists, and five rebounds in an 83-75 victory over Coast Guard on Tuesday night. He added 18 points, three assists, and three rebounds in an 83-62 road win against Emerson. In a road contest at Wheaton, Iscandari scored 20 points, four steals, and three rebounds on Saturday afternoon.
On the season, Iscandari leads the squad with an average of 16.8 points and 2.8 steals, while adding 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. The scarlet and white will return to the court tomorrow night when they welcome Springfield to the Kneller for a contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
